For the 2025 boating season, Richardson’s Boating Holidays will be offering this service free of charge to all our Boat Hire guests, ensuring safe access to a stretch of the Broads National Park’s most beautiful rivers.
Safe Passage Under Wroxham Bridge
Accessing the river north of Wroxham Bridge is a highlight of any boating holiday on the Norfolk Broads, however due to strict height restrictions and tidal conditions, this passage is only permitted when using our free pilotage service. Our expert team, based at the Richardson’s Day Boat Marina in Wroxham, is fully trained to guide your Boat safely under the bridge, protecting you, your Boat, and fellow waterway users from potential hazards. Please note that attempting passage without using our pilotage service is strictly prohibited and is a mandatory condition of your hire agreement.

By using our Bridge Pilot Service, you will gain access to a scenic stretch of the River Bure that leads to the charming village of Coltishall. The journey time is around one hour 15 minutes and gives access to:
- Walking Trails: Enjoy access to numerous Broads walking trails that offer breathtaking views and a peaceful escape into nature.
- Riverside Pubs & Restaurants: Stop by local riverside pubs and eateries to sample delicious food and drinks in a Broadside village setting.
- Water Sports: The calm and picturesque waterways in this stretch are perfect for paddleboarding and canoeing. These activities can be hired directly from the location.
