Situated in the bright and lively seaside town of Great Yarmouth, The Pleasure Beach is a great place to visit if you have a night or two pencilled in at the seaside resort during your Broads holiday. A 5 ½ hours’ cruise from our marina in Stalham, this is a great mid-break option, especially if travelling with the kids!
The Pleasure Beach
What you can expect on your trip to The Pleasure Beach in Great Yarmouth.
A Great Yarmouth seaside favourite, The Pleasure Beach (along the town’s Golden Mile) features high-octane rides and traditional seaside attractions. The park, which sits on 9 acres along Great Yarmouth’s coastline, has been in business since 1909 and has entertained families over the last century through a number of different attractions.
The Rides
The rides are seperated into four different types: Thrill rides, Kiddie rides, Family rides, and Retro rides. Thrill rides includes classics such as an exciting (and wet!) Log Flume and Sky Drop, and Kiddie rides include Cups & Saucers and Freefall. Family rides include Dodgems and Flying Dumbos, and the Retro rides include Pleasure Beach’s famous wooden Roller Coaster, opened in 1932.
History
The original Pleasure Beach was opened in 1909, and featured just a scenic railway. In 1911 another attraction, the Joywheel was added, before the park closed in 1914 due to the war. After re-opening in 1919, the park was restored and extended in 1923. Over the years, the Pleasure Beach has been developed and extended, for instance gaining the wooden rollercoaster in 1932, and has changed hands a few times.
