Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden
Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden gives you a wonderful feeling of seclusion similar to being in a secret garden. It is quite amazing to think that it covers 131 acres! If it wasn’t for the fact that the pathways are well signed and that you have a map in hand you could quite easily find yourself lost in these wonderful woodlands. There is so much to explore on the woodland walks and the wildlife is abundant. There is a 950 year old King Oak tree which is one of Norfolk’s oldest trees.
Footpaths are accessible although with it being woodland there are some parts that are naturally uneven.
Most of the information boards along the way have braille panels. The site is also 100% organically managed so it is an ideal place to visit for those who are environmentally conscientious. Walking through the gardens we saw butterflies, birds and many beautiful flowers and fauna. Dogs are welcome as long as they are on leads.
When you reach the Broad you get a sudden view of vast open space across the water.

If you are visiting on your boating holiday you need to follow the River Bure to Fleet Dyke where moorings are available on South Walsham outer Broad (not inner Broad). You can then follow the footpath signs to the village of South Walsham.
Fairhaven has a tearoom which serves snacks and light lunches. There is also a gift shop and plant sales area.
The garden is open 364 days of the year. There is an entry fee and boating trips are extra on top of this. More information on opening times, fees and events can be found at their website here.
