If you’re spending your October half term with us on the Broads, you won’t be short of things to do in these beautiful wetlands! From the magical world of potions, lotions and cures from times gone past to finding hidden pumpkins and completing challenges on a spooky trail, there’s something for everyone!
What to Do This Spooky October Half Term in the Broads
Moor at: Wroxham Broads Authority Moorings
Take a trip aboard the Spooky Express at the Bure Valley Railway this October half term. Children go free with a full fare paying adult (maximum 2 per adult), and the railway’s mascot bear will greet you at the Aylsham station dressed for the occasion! The kids can enjoy a children’s quiz to spot how many spooky items there are during the journey, and the Whistlestop Café will be decorated for Halloween!

Mystic Medicine – Elizabethan House Museum
Moor at: Great Yarmouth Yacht Station
This is great for families who have come on holiday with us the day after term ends, on the 20th or 21st of October, as it allows you time to cruise to Great Yarmouth. The Elizabethan House Museum is on the town’s historic South Quay, and hosts this terrifying Mystic Medicine event to give its visitors a look into the tried and tested historical remedies from medieval times.
Halloween Trail – Museum of the Broads
Moor at: Richardson’s Boating Holidays
The only museum dedicated to the Broads and its history, the Museum of the Broads is hosting a Hallowe’en Trail during the October half term, 10:00-16:00 daily. Win a spooky prize, enjoy some Halloween activities and discover some of the Broads’ ghosts – but be care of the Wroxham Witch!
Spooktacular Halloween Trail – RSPB Strumpshaw Fen
Moor at: Brundall Church Fen Broads Authority Moorings
Take the kids to this self-guided Halloween Trail, where they’ll enjoy finding hidden pumpkins, discovering some of the reserve’s spookier wildlife’s secrets and completing ‘Wild Challenges’ to earn a prize! A drop-in event, you can take part in the Spooktacular Halloween Trail between 21 and 29 October 2017.
