One of our favourite things about the Broads (and there’s a lot!) is the variety that the area offers to visitors! You may expect your boating holiday to involve nature, wildlife and so many riverside pubs you’ll lose count. What you may not expect is that the Broads is great for shopping too! We’ve listed our top 10 shopping destinations in the Broads National Park for you to have a look at. From the city of Norwich, regularly named in the top 10 places to shop in the whole of the UK, to small village stores, renowned for their local produce, the Broads give plenty of options for the shopaholic in you!

1. Chantry Place – Norwich

Chantry Place shopping centre in the heart of Norwich is the place to go if you love big brands. Chantry Place houses the likes of Apple, Disney, House of Fraser, Hollister, Pandora and Superdry, as well as offering a wide range of places to eat, from YO! Sushi to Krispy Kreme – perfect when searching for shopping destinations in the Broads!

 

2. Roys of Wroxham

Actually based in Hoveton, over the bridge from Wroxham, Roys is an independent department store offering everything from garden tools to children’s toys, clothes to electrical items. A visit to the Broads is never complete without a trip to Roys!

 

3. Beccles Town Centre

Beccles is a charming Georgian market town located within the southern Broads. The town offers a unique shopping experience with many independent and antique stores, as well as high-street names such as New Look and Fat Face.

 

4. The Galley at Horning

The Galley is a very popular café, deli and gift shop in the picturesque village of Horning. Stock up on local cheeses, cooked meats and jams, as well as a wide array of olives, wines and spirits. The Galley gift shop offers arts and crafts, souvenirs, ceramics and more!

5. The Norwich Lanes

Close to the main city centre are the historic Norwich Lanes – a series of small winding streets with many independent shops, cafés, pubs, hairdressers and beauty parlours. The lanes are unique to Norwich and definitely worth a visit if you come to Norwich during your boating holiday.

6. Market Gates Shopping Centre – Great Yarmouth

Market Gates Shopping Centre houses over 45 stores, with many high street brands such as Debenhams, GAME, Superdrug and Wilko. The shopping centre is conveniently located in the middle of Great Yarmouth, and is an ideal base from which to explore the rest of the town.

7. Throwers of Ludham

Throwers is a traditional village store dating back to 1902, located in the popular Broads village of Ludham. Throwers offer a great range of local produce including Broadland eggs and Woodforde’s ale. Make sure to visit when stocking up on supplies for the boat!

8. Norwich Market

Norwich Market was founded in the 11th century and today is one of the largest markets in Britain with 189 stalls trading Monday to Saturday. On the market you will find bakers, florists, greengrocers, chip shops, clothing stalls and much much more – a real highlight of shopping destinations in the Broads!

9. Stalham High Street

Stalham high street offers a selection of shops including a good selection of charity shops, the Original Factory Shop, and a popular butchers. A particular highlight of the street is a shop called Truly Local, offering local foods from within a 40 miles radius of the store.

 

10. Mariners Store at the Wavney River Centre – Burgh St Peter

Last on the list is the Mariners Store, which is the perfect stop off for those of you enjoying a boating holiday. From here you can pick up boating, fishing and camping supplies, as well as plenty of local produce and gifts.
